One of the most common Stroke Symptoms is called drooping. It affects one side of the body and can last for several minutes to hours. Drooping is most commonly experienced in the area of the head and is usually accompanied by numbness, which can sometimes be severe.
One other common Stroke symptom is leg weakness on one side of the body. This Stroke symptom is called quadriplegia. Leg weakness is very difficult to diagnose as it can occur along with numbness, but without leg weakness the patient may have difficulty getting up from a seated position and may not be able to stand up after sitting down for a period of time. If left untreated the chances of developing leg weakness are very high.
The final Stroke symptom we are going to discuss is called double vision. A person may experience double vision, a sensation that involves seeing images that are clearly seen on either side of the visual field. Typically, the person will experience this symptom when something obstructs his or her vision such as a blind spot, or when their peripheral vision is distracted by something on the side of the brain they are viewing. Double vision can be a very dangerous Stroke symptom because if a person has double vision and suffers a hit in the head, they have the possibility of seeing what hit them but not the other part of the body that was hit. Therefore, it is very important that if a person has double vision that they get to the hospital immediately and talk to their doctor about the implications of this symptom. The symptoms of dizziness can be confused with double vision, but they are actually very different.
The leading cause of death related to ischemic stroke is due to hemorrhages, or blood clots. However, there are many other types of Stroke Symptoms that include loss of consciousness, changes in behavior, changes in vision, and numbness or tingling in the limbs. Each of these signs can be dangerous and should be given extra attention by the victim’s family and physician. If any of these signs are present, it is recommended that the victim go to the hospital to be safe.
Loss of Consciousness This is also a very serious Stroke symptom that occurs when a person loses consciousness and is not able to perceive what is happening around them. There are three kinds of Loss of Consciousness that can occur: Blocked Vision (dizziness), Clamped Reflex (limping or tightening of the muscles in the face and the arms), and Caffeine Hypesthesia (trancing or moving rapidly). Blocked Vision is usually caused by decreased blood flow to the eyes or the area surrounding the eyes and is one of the leading cause of blindness in the world. Clamped Reflex is caused by muscles spasms in the face and the arms. Caffeine Hypesthesia is often confused with low blood pressure because of the similarity in the symptoms of hypertension and low blood pressure.
Numbness and Limpness Another of the most common symptoms of Stroke is numbness and/or weakness in the extremities. These two can be very scary. Although it is always recommended that you call 911 if you have any of these symptoms, one of the more frightening is being unable to feel your toes, fingers, or arms. This symptom is called bradykinesia and is one of the most common Stroke symptoms that can occur in one hemisphere of the body. The other side is usually not affected. The other side of this symptom is usually referred to as bradycardia.
The third type of Stroke symptom is called “Cerebralbral Hypoperapia”. “Cerebral Hypoperapia” is when the brain does not receive enough oxygen. This can happen due to many things such as brain surgery, head injury, or even drowning. Another common cause of “Cerebral Hypoperapia” is the enlargement of the brain tumor. As brain tumors grow in size it causes a decrease in the blood flow to that area.
The fourth and final Stroke symptom is “Sudden Confusion”. Sudden confusion is when you experience sudden confusion where you are unable to concentrate on what you are doing. Typically this happens when the person has a stroke, and their eyes begin to water. Many times this is caused by the lack of oxygen in the brain.
