Stroke Symptoms are described as any changes in the functions of a patient’s body that lead to a decrease in their ability to function normally. The most common and immediate consequence of a stroke is the temporary loss of consciousness that results from hemorrhagic or cerebrovascular hemorrhage. Most people with hemorrhagic stroke will die as a result of hemorrhagic stroke. Other more subtle stroke symptoms include vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, hemiplegia (twitching of the leg or arms), atypical seizures, decreased sweating (no sweating at all), urinary retention, fatigue, rigidity or swelling of extremities, speech problems and hearing difficulties.
It has been found that men are more likely to suffer from a heart attack than women, with the risk of a heart attack increasing twenty-five percent for men than for women. Men are also more likely to recover from a stroke than women; however, women are more likely to regain their normal activities of life after suffering from a stroke than men. This higher risk of stroke symptoms in women can be explained by the higher stroke risk in women than in men, due to general gender differences.
Therapy is available in many forms to treat the different types of stroke symptoms that may occur. One type of therapy is the use of antiplatelets, which are medications that prevent platelet-rich blood from clotting and thus stopping or reducing the bleeding. These antiplatelet drugs to prevent blood clots from building up in arteries, stopping them from leaking into the brain tissue, which is believed to be one of the causes of stroke in many patients. Many antiplatelet drugs have been approved by the FDA and can be purchased over-the-counter.
Another type of therapy is the use of interferon, which can be used to treat many types of stroke symptoms including face drooping. Interferon is used to treat severe forms of heart disease, like myocardial infarction (heart attack) and heart failure. This medication is usually injected directly into a patient’s muscles to stop or slow down the process of muscle death (muscle rigidity) that can be one of the causes of face drooping. However, the FDA has recently approved a different class of antiplatelet drugs called non-steroidal antiplatelets (NSAIDs). These NSAIDs are not as commonly used, but some physicians feel that they can help significantly reduce the number of stroke strokes that take place in patients.
Numbness and tingling of the face, arm or leg (medically known as neuropathy) has been one of the most serious warning signs may include a stroke. The neuropathy refers to damage to the peripheral nervous system, which controls your ability to move. Symptoms of neuropathy can include severe headache, numbness and tingling of the leg or arm, and even problems with speech.
Another serious problem that has been associated with a sudden symptom of a stroke is bradykinesia. Bradykinesia is also commonly referred to as “pins and needles” because of the increased sensitivity that it causes in the victim’s arms and hands. Symptoms of bradykinesia include sweating, numbness and tingling in the affected extremities, rapid pulse and irregular heartbeat.
Many individuals also suffer from severe headaches, especially if they have had recent vision problems. Often times this form of headaches occurs in the mornings when you first wake up and can get worse during the day. You may also find that you experience a higher risk of stress headaches than other sufferers. One of the more serious warning signs that you may have experienced a stroke is an altered sense of balance, or the inability to walk, talk, or move properly. If you experience problems walking or talking, you should definitely be seen by a doctor immediately for consultation.
Clotting factors are another group of stroke symptoms that have risen in recent years due to the growth of the tPA drug. TPA is abbreviated as Trptospermine, and is a medication made from the drug Pentoxifylline. While Trptospermine is not a widely used medication, it is still listed as an approved medication for the treatment of clots in patients who have diabetes, multiple sclerosis and high blood pressure. This medication acts similar to the hormone insulin, and it allows the body to break down and remove large clots that have formed in the arteries
