Stroke symptoms can differ from person to person. For instance, some people may not experience any of the symptoms at all while others may suffer from more serious signs and symptoms of stroke. The signs and symptoms of stroke depend on the location and severity of the stroke. Some strokes can be fatal but others may not affect anyone’s life too much. The most common stroke symptom is loss of blood flow in the brain.
A right away stroke symptom that you should be aware of is called a stroke brought about by a blocked artery. A blocked artery is caused when a blood vessel is cut by another bigger vessel and the oxygen supply is cut off to that area. So when the blood flows to that area and a clot forms, stroke will occur. A doctor will usually take a sample of your blood a few hours after the clot forms to make sure that it is indeed a stroke and not a normal bleed.
Another stroke symptom that is common is called face drooping. This symptom is experienced by many people. Some of them might even notice that their whole face droops when they are sad or happy. The reason behind this drooping is due to the blood flowing in the arteries getting narrowed or blocked. That is why some of the signs of stroke mentioned earlier may appear as you are getting depressed or sad.
Another common stroke symptom is called arm weakness. Again, this weakness is often felt in the arms. But it can also affect the legs and/or feet. Usually, when someone is suffering from arm weakness, one side of the body seems weaker than the other. Usually, this happens in the part of the arm that is normally below the shoulder. Another sign that suggests that one may be suffering from arm weakness is if the person finds it difficult to pick up objects that are dropped.
Another sign of a possible stroke can be a decreased level of blood supply to the brain. The brain needs a constant blood supply to work properly. In some cases, the brain stops receiving the needed amount of blood due to a blood clot in the area. Symptoms that suggest a lack of blood supply to the brain can be loss of consciousness for a short period, or a change in behavior, like not moving of eyes or speaking.
Another sign of a stroke that usually comes with a sudden confusion is double vision. In some cases, the victim can see double images. Again, this symptom is usually experienced by those who have suffered a hemorrhage in the brain. However, this symptom can also appear due to other reasons such as head injury, a broken arm, or knocked out the light.
These are just some of the symptoms that are related to a stroke. Of course, these signs do not always point to a stroke. Sometimes, they are caused by other conditions. If you experience one or more of these signs, it is best to consult a physician immediately.
So, what is the common symptoms of a stroke? Well, we have already mentioned four of the most common symptoms. Hopefully, this article has given you a clearer picture of each of them so that you will know if you are experiencing any of them, or if you are still seeing the signs of a stroke occurring in your face.
Facial numbness on one side of the body is called bradykinesia. Men tend to experience more bradykinesia than women do. This symptom is also one of the more difficult to correct since there is not much that can be done about it other than not using the affected area or applying topical anesthetics. Other symptoms include a tingling sensation or itching or burning, double vision, difficulty swallowing, or weakness of the face or extremities.
Another sign of a stroke that many people may experience is a temporary ischemic attack, or TIA. A TIA is a temporary dip in the blood pressure. This dip is usually felt on one side of the body and goes away within 30 seconds to a minute. People who suffer from a TIA may feel a tightness in their chest or throat. They may also feel dizzy or unsteady.
If you have any of these symptoms, you should seek immediate emergency services. The faster you can get to the hospital and get checked out, the more likely your health will improve. You will probably also need to be admitted if the symptoms are serious enough to hospitalize you. There is no need to delay your treatment for a mild stroke. The earlier you seek medical help, the better your chances for a full recovery.
