Stroke symptoms can be confusing. Strokes are one of the most serious accidents, a person can have. If your body is no longer able to function properly due to a stroke, then you need to get help right away. Here are a few things to remember when you experience a stroke symptom.
The biggest stroke symptom is the lack of feeling in the area of the brain that controls your circulation. This is called an ischemic stroke. When the blood supply to the area of the brain stops working the result is usually a stroke. An ischemic stroke will affect the arteries, veins, and a couple of other vital organs along with the brain. There are times when you can have a small amount of blood clots in the brain; these normally clear up on their own in a day or so, but if they do not you should call 911 immediately.
Another thing that happens when you have an ischemic stroke is that the symptoms you experience will be different from what other people experience. You can have a couple of different symptoms and not be in any danger. The first step when experiencing these symptoms is to get medical attention. Call 911 right away if you experience any of the following symptoms: difficulty breathing, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, pain in the chest area, blurred vision, sweating, numbness in the hands or arms, feelings of extreme weakness, or tingling in the arms and legs.
One of the simplest symptoms to look out for is the inability to speak. This is caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain resulting from a lack of ischemia, or a lack of the substance known as plasminogen. If you have a rapid, irregular pulse or you feel lightheaded you may have been hit in the head with a piece of debris that was able to travel through the blood stream and hit the brain causing the condition known as “phasorrhagia.”
A classic of this problem is called “sudden confusion.” Symptoms of this are: a ringing in the ears, problems concentrating, difficulty walking, fainting, confusion or irritability. People who suffer from this often times do not immediately know why they are having such a difficult time walking or talking. They may also have trouble seeing colors or seeing lights.
Another common Stroke symptom is the drooping eyelid. This is caused when there is fluid leakage from the blood vessels near the eye and this can cause a person to droop their eyelid as a result. Some people do not experience any symptoms of a drop in the eyelid but observing someone else may notice a small amount of fluid drooping from the corner of their eye.
All of the above are examples of some of the most common symptoms of stroke. It is important that if you have any or all of these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately. Stroke is not something that should be taken lightly. If not treated properly, it can be fatal. Here are some other ways to spot the early signs of stroke.
One of the first things that someone will notice is a difference in behavior. If you find that your memory has become fuzzy or that you are not able to concentrate on things anymore, this is often a sign of a stroke. Another symptom is a change in speech. You may find that you are having trouble saying the words and your speech sounds more slurred than normal. Another sign is dizziness. Most people experience dizziness when they experience a drop in blood pressure or if they are experiencing an episode of confusion.
