Leukemia can affect any part of the body, although it is most common to affect the bone marrow, the blood cells in the blood and the bone tissue. The symptoms of melanoma often do not appear until a person has reached middle age or older. As with most types of cancer, early treatment for melanoma is highly recommended.
Another common cancer among young adults is lymphoma, which affects the lymphatic system, the skin and the lungs. There are many types of lymphoma, including Hodgkin’s lymphoma (which accounts for 75 percent of all cases), non-Hodgkins lymphoma (which accounts for the remaining 25 percent), cervical cancer, lung cancer and melanoma. Because there are so many types of lymphoma, the disease tends to be more prevalent in younger people. In fact, the five percent of adults who have non-Hodgkins lymphoma are younger than twenty.
Many different things can affect a person’s risk factors for developing cancer. Heredity is one of the risk factors, as it is passed down through the family. Other risk factors include; age (the older you get the greater your risk factors tend to be), gender, race (women tend to have higher rates of cancer compared to men), body size (arger body mass increases a person’s risk of cancer) and location (usculta is at a higher risk of cancer).
The majority of cancers tend to occur in people in their twenties and thirties. However, some cancers can develop at any age. Some types of cancers often occur more in certain age groups than in others. For example, colon and breast cancer usually occurs in younger adults, while mouth and stomach cancer usually occurs in older adults.
