Cancer is not uncommon in young people, but a number of different cancer types may occur in this population and treating them can be difficult. Most common cancers happen in old individuals. The most widespread cancers in old people are lung, skin, colon and bladder cancers, breast (particularly in women), and prostate cancer (in men.) Skin cancer is the most commonly reported cancer among younger people, accounting for about 20 percent of all cancer cases.
Many factors can increase the risk of developing cancer, including being male, having a family history of cancer, living in a high-risk area, having early onset age-related cancers, being overweight or obese, and having an unhealthy diet. Men are more likely to develop skin cancer than women, and they tend to have a number of different types of cancers. Those who smoke cigarettes are at greater risk of developing mouth, esophageal, and throat cancer, while men who smoke only occasionally are at decreased risk. Overall, those who eat a lot of red meat, fish, dairy products, poultry, eggs, and other animal-derived foods are at greater risk of developing cancer. As usual, it is possible that the protective factors provided by fruits and vegetables can offset some of this risk.
Common cancers usually occur in those who are over fifty years of age, although there are cases of very rare cancers occurring in younger people as well. Some of these common cancers are lung cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, stomach cancer, kidney cancer, cervical cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, and Hodgkin’s disease. They also occur more frequently in those with a family history of cancer. Prostate cancer is the most prevalent cancer among males. The risk of contracting prostate cancer increases with age, although it usually does not appear until one is older than fifty. Approximately one in fifty men will contract prostate cancer during their lifetime.
Two other common cancers are leukemia (cancer of the blood) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Leukemia is a type of cancer that is most commonly found in children, though it can also be found in adults. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is lymphoma that does not originate from any part of the body. These two types of non-Hodgkin lymphomas are more common than most people may think, accounting for approximately ten percent of all lymphomas.
Because the symptoms of these types of cancers can often be confused with other diseases, it is vital that anyone who suspects they may have them should seek out medical attention. A doctor can conduct tests and do tests to determine if there is indeed a problem. If a test is conducted and a diagnosis is made, a physician can prescribe treatment. Some symptoms to look for in adults are unexplained weight loss, swelling in the abdominal area, persistent coughing with or without breath, unexplained fatigue, rectal bleeding, dark urine, and painful intercourse. Of course, these are just some of the symptoms of many different diseases, so if you or someone you know shows even one of these symptoms, it is vital that you get medical attention immediately.
The third main types of cancer are those that occur only in adults. Two of these main types of cancer occur in men, one of which is called prostate cancer. The prostate cancer develops when there is an abnormal growth in the prostate gland. The second main type of cancer occurs in women, usually in breast tissue, ovaries, or other tissues.
One of the most common types of cancer in adults is osteosarcoma, which affects the bone marrow. This disease attacks the bone marrow because the cells produced by the bone marrow are necessary for the production of white blood cells. Another common type of cancer in adults is lymphoma, which is a type of cancer that develops in the lymphatic system, where it attacks cells. These are just a few of the more common types of cancers that occur in adults; there are also several less common types of cancers, like melanoma and lung cancer.
One of the less common forms of cancer is osteosarcoma, which is cancer that affects the osteosarcoma fibers, which are responsible for protecting the bones from fractures. Another less common type of cancer is melanoma, which is a tumor that forms in the skin. The causes of some of these types of cancers are still unknown, but some scientists believe that certain types of foods may cause some forms of cancer. It is important to note that all of these types of cancer can be potentially fatal, so they should be viewed as life-threatening conditions. Medical treatment for all of these types of cancer is recommended.
